Today was awesome. A little background info first. CG Motorsports, home of some of the craziest BMW's and definitely E30's. Chris Besemer has not only built himself an amazing shop, but also has been able to create some of the best E30 M3's around. From his Replica TIC TAC E30 M3 to his stealthy "Shadow" M3, Chris has stopped at nothing to acquire these highly desirable BMW's and turn them into even more desirable machines.
It was said that he had a shop car that was like no other. It was an E30 M3. It had AC Schnitzer wheels and a stance to die for. It.... was ORANGE! I had to see it for myself. The first thing you notice about Chris' shop is that everything is immaculate. His cars are no exception. this thing looked like a trailer queen, but Chris assured me that it was driven regularly, and hard.

Today was my regular day off work. I usually wake up around 11-12 and if it is the second or fourth Monday of the month, I'll give Mike a call and grab some lunch. Today was no different, I had to go out to Surrey and while I was out there met up with Mike for lunch. I spent the majority of the hour listening to Mikes plans for his new Off-Roading machine. (read: 89 Suburban with a 6" lift kit and 36" mudders) By the time 3:00 rolls around, it's time for the regular gym meet up with my good buddy, Sean. We've been meaning to do a photoshoot of his 2003 GTI for quite a while now but the weather just hasn't been co-operating with us. At around 2:45 Sean calls and says "Hey, the weather is awesome, we should do a photoshoot." "Sure! I just need to grab my camera stuff and I'm on my way!"

I get to Sean's at around 3:30 and it's still light out, but it won't be for long. Having wanted to go downtown to an alley that's been on my mind for a while I hadn't really thought of anywhere else, but today would not give us enough time to go all the way downtown and still have enough light to shoot. We were running out of light as it was. We decided to go into Steveston and drive around the historic fishing community for something cool. On our way out there I remembered about this old Hay barn further down the road that I had always thought was a cool place.

So with little notice and half life batteries on my camera we setup and shot till the light went away.
I just started shooting with a reflective umbrella and some Flash Wave PRO flash transmitters, so far they have been working really well. Hopefully with a few more shoots I'll be able to really improve.

Sean's car sits nicely on 18" BBS RC's and KW V1 coilovers.

The hay barn is sort of in the middle of nowhere and since no one seemed to care about what we were doing, we decided to venture into the shelter. People always say the mk4 is a cow, and sitting on the hay, it's easy to understand why. This car looked right at home resting ontop of the hay.

This GTI looks nearly stock, but it's the subtle differences that keep this car looking fresh. Sean has carefully planned out his list of mods so that in each stage it stays looking complete. Boser hood and shaved bumper strip (no license plate holes) keep the car looking mint while giving it the aggressive "move over" look.

It was right after this shot that my flash batteries ran out. No worries, I'll just grab my spare set.... unless those are dead too. We had only spent about 45 minutes in the barn and decided we wanted to take a couple more pics. Stopping by my house to grab some more batteries we were quickly back out, but this time we really didn't know where to go especially with the daylight completely gone. We stopped at the mall just down the street, but I wasn't really excited to be there so these were the only 2 that I kept.

That's it. Maybe next week I can get another ninja shoot done!
